Fry Pan Cookies Tutorial

There are few things I find as fun as rolling up my sleeves and diving elbow-deep into an all-afternoon cooking project. Unfortunately, my school apartment has no (functioning) oven, and I'm often left with little time for cooking. Here's a simple and delicious recipe that requires only 15 minutes and a stove top!

Holly's Fry Pan Cookies

You will need:
  • 2 cups of white granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. of cocoa powder (heaping)
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter (heaping)
  • 3 cups of rolled oats
Skip the mixing bowl for this one! Everything is combined and cooked in your frying pan, so be sure to choose a sizeable pan for the task.

1. Start by warming the frying pan on medium heat. Add your sugar, cocoa powder and milk to the pan.
2. Stir gently until the mixture comes to a low simmer.
3. Add your vanilla extract, butter and peanut butter to the pan.
4. Sir gently until the peanut butter has fully melted.
5. Add your rolled oats to the pan, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes dark and shiny.
6. Turn off your stove. Use two spoons to drop the mixture onto wax paper in dollops, and wait to cool. Makes 30 cookies.

That's it! Simplicity is key to this quick-fix recipe.
