Free Download from String Quilt Revival

Embroidery stabilizer used in quilting? WOW! That is exactly what Virginia Baker and Barbara Sanders did in their book String Quilt Revival, part of the Create With Nancy series. After discovering a reasonably priced source for 30” wide Sheer Delite No Show Mesh Stabilizer, they knew they could recreate the fabulous string quilt patterns of the past as well as develop new ones. String Quilt Revival features 11 quilt projects as well as pillow sham directions and a pot holder pattern all using their new string piecing method.

The Sheer Delite stabilizer is a sheer, lightweight,semi-transparent, nonwoven material that drapes well, has no bias and will not tear. You can use a regular stitch length while sewing, making mistakes easy to remove without damage to the backing. But, the best part, it does not have to be removed! What else could you ask for?

Since March is National Craft month, share your love of sewing with someone young or new to the craft by creating a pot holder from String Quilt Revival. Click here to register for the FREE pattern download!

Sisters, Virginia and Barbara, also known as Ginger and Bobbie, were born and raised in Tennessee. Their love of quilting was passed down to them from their grandmother and aunt. Collectively they have 40 plus years of quilting experience. Virginia’s twenty years in color development for the paint industry has been an asset while working with fiber. Since 1998, the two have also enjoyed the art of traditional primitive rug hooking.

Since the release of their book, String Quilt Revival, they have been traveling to conduct workshops, trunk shows and lectures. They are very excited to announce that they are now working on several new string quilt patterns soon to be released and will be available on their website www.stripsandstrings.com and be sure to view the gallery section while you are there!

  1. i love String Quilt Revival. I have not been quilting very long, as far as that goes even sewing. This technique using the stabelizer really allows me to produce quilts that look like i have been sewing for years. I started with their "all boxed in" pattern, and have now done the Stary Burst, Diamonds are Forever and beginning a 'seceret' project with one of their patterns. Their patterns really make you come alive and keep thinkig about which one to do next. I can't wait to complete one before I start another one. Thanks for this wonderful technique because I can impress even the most skilled quilter with the quilts I am able to do.
